G8 Target

When the G8 met in 2009 in L’Aquila, Italy they declared their support for a 50% worldwide reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and an 80% reduction for developed countries in order to meet the 2°C goal.

2050 sounds like a long way off—40 years away.

But check out how emissions have gone for the previous 50 years or so ever since the issue was identified as a potential problem. Not a lot of reductions there.
