Professional Engineers Call for Building Code Enhancements

In November the Ottawa Chapter of Professional Engineers Ontario held a second workshop on sustainability; this one attended by 125 people.

I was impressed not only by the number of people in attendance, but later when I checked the PEO website I found many many articles they had published over the years underlining the importance of climate change.

Of particular note with regard to November’s workshop was that as a result, the Chair of Sustainability and Green Energy Committee of the Ottawa Chapter has submitted a letter to the Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing requesting, among other things, an enhancement to the building code that would require roofs to be constructed so as to best capture solar energy.
