The agenda for the November 15th City of Ottawa Environment Committee meeting has now been posted and it does not include the anticipated Choosing Our Future reports including greenhouse gas reduction targets.
I have spoken with City staff who confirm that the initiative has not gone off the rails but is delayed and expected instead to be presented at the next Environment Committee meeting. When exactly this will be is slightly mysterious; the Nov 15 agenda indicates January 17th but the city website indicates there is an Environment Committee meeting set for December 20th and that the first meeting in 2012 is January 31.
I will paraphrase Longfellow (who was paraphrasing the classical writer Sextus Empiricus) to say the mills of city government grind slowly, we continue to hope they grind exceeding small.
There are a few other interesting items on the agenda for November 15, such as the 2012 draft budget, and updates on recycling, Plasco & Orgaworld.
The location for the November 15 Environment Committee meeting is:
Andrew S. Haydon Hall
Ottawa City Hall
110 Laurier Avenue West
Time: 9:30 a.m.
